Why CNWL

We’re specialists in community based physical and mental healthcare

We are more than a Mental Health Trust. We’re the beating heart of the NHS where almost 90% of treatment happens in the community – in people’s own homes, community clinics, schools and even in prisons.

We help to keep people out of hospital and have a number of specialist units for inpatients when intensive treatment is needed. By having physical and mental health services side-by-side we integrate more - that’s better for patients.

It’s also good for our staff. Our services are so diverse that you can spend your entire career with us! We provide a wide range of health and social care to a population of around three million people living in the South East of England, including London, Milton Keynes, Surrey and Buckinghamshire.

We strive to create an environment where people love to come to work

Our staff are the stars of CNWL. It's the people who provide care, develop relationships and make important decisions.

The latest staff survey put us among the very best of Trusts for staff engagement, as a place to work and to receive treatment. We’re also in the Health Service Journal’s Best Places to Work.

We’re led by the best in the industry too – our Chief Executive, Claire Murdoch has been named in the Health Service Journal’s Top 15 Chief Executives 2016. She’s a registered mental health nurse and knows what it’s like on the frontline. We can help you to get to the top of your profession too!

We recognise the important work our staff do every single day - we have a monthly staff award, called the Hidden Gem Award, and an annual awards ceremony, called the Annual Gem Awards.

We care

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) found us to be ‘outstanding’ for caring at the last inspection in February 2016. Inspectors said that we have areas of outstanding practice in peer support, pharmacy, involvement and diversity too and that our community health services are ‘good’ and sexual health services ‘outstanding’.

We are constantly developing our organisation to provide modern, dependable services

Our staff know that good care is about making a difference in people’s lives when they are at their most vulnerable. That’s why we are constantly developing our services to meet the needs of the people within the communities that we serve. We’ve diversified to provide unique services such as our Integrated Gang Unit for vulnerable children and adolescents in Westminster and the Street Triage Service in Milton Keynes.

We’re recognised locally, nationally and internationally for providing high quality, innovative healthcare.

We’re trailblazers too - We’ve pioneered national clinics including our National Problem Gambling Clinic and Club Drug Clinic. CNWL’s experts have been called upon to contribute to national and international health strategy and policy and we can help you reach the pinnacle of your career.
